Spring!

Spring is here! Days are longer now, the earth is warming, fruit trees are blooming, and bulbs and fungi are emerging from the dark, damp soil. It is the season of awakening. Beautifully intricate birdsong, the buzzing of bees, and a raucous choir of frogs are background music here in the northwest woods.

Springtime is hope— a reminder that darkness will pass.

There is something about the first delicate flowers after winter that seem to remind us to be gentle with each other, and with ourselves.

I hope you are able to take a few moments each day to take in the changes and savor the beauty, no matter how small.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. I don’t make them anymore. They feel like lofty ideals— rules that we are bound to break. One of my goals for this year (well, every year, actually) is to stay as healthy as possible, to improve my energy levels and to feel mentally clear and focused.
